When we created our puppy training program many years ago, it began with a request from our families.
They wanted additional support beyond the intentional socialization every CW Bernedoodles puppy receives during the first eight weeks of life. Most of all, they wanted help making the transition home easier—for their puppies and for themselves.
That request became our Transitional Training Program. Since then, the program has grown alongside our breeding program, our team, and our understanding of what helps puppies become exceptional family companions.
Rather than offering a 10-day program with an optional extension, we have combined everything into one comprehensive, 18- to 19-day training experience. This updated format gives our trainers more time to establish essential life skills, gives puppies more opportunities to practice those skills in different situations, and gives families more support as they prepare to welcome their puppy home.

The Story Behind the Program
Our own journey with dog ownership did not begin the way we hoped it would.
Early on, we adopted a breed that was not the right fit for our family. Without the knowledge or preparation we needed, we struggled—and, looking back, we know we were not the dog owners we wanted to be.
That experience stayed with us.
It caused us to reflect deeply on what we should have done differently and what families truly need to enjoy a successful life with their dogs. Those lessons helped shape our mission: to breed neutral, well-rounded dogs that can become wonderful family companions.
Genetics play an essential role in that work, but genetics are only the beginning. How puppies are raised, socialized, and trained from their very first days also matters. For families to experience lasting success, we must eventually hand that knowledge—and those developing skills—over to them.
TTP+ is designed to make that handoff as thoughtful and effective as possible.
Why the Early Weeks Matter
Young puppies are remarkable learners. They are curious, observant, and constantly absorbing information about the world around them.
During their first eight weeks with us, CW Bernedoodles puppies receive purposeful socialization and begin learning healthy boundaries that support confidence and trust. They are introduced to kennels, new sights, sounds, smells, surfaces, routines, and age-appropriate experiences. They begin practicing skills such as sitting for attention and spending short periods apart—important foundations for independence and the prevention of separation-related struggles.
These early weeks are critical to a puppy’s development. TTP+ allows us to build on that foundation during another important stage of learning.
The goal of TTP+ is not to create a “finished” dog. Puppies will continue growing, changing, and learning long after they leave us. Instead, TTP+ gives them a base knowledge of the everyday skills they will need in family life—and gives their families a clearer path for continuing that education at home.
Teaching Puppies How to Fit Into Family Life
At its heart, training is an act of love.
Whether you invest your own time in teaching your dog or ask an experienced trainer to begin that work for you, training helps a dog understand where it fits within the household. If you want a dog that can settle calmly, you must teach neutrality. If you want polite behavior, you must consistently show your puppy what is expected. If you want confidence, you must provide appropriate structure, encouragement, and opportunities to succeed.
Our puppies leave us with an early foundation in these areas, but the learning does not stop when they arrive home.
From the moment a puppy walks through your door, it is learning. It may be learning habits that continue shaping its temperament in a positive direction—or discovering behaviors that will become harder to change later.
That is why TTP+ is about more than training the puppy. It is also about preparing the family.
Why We Combined TTP and TTP+
The greatest change to our program is its new, all-inclusive format.
Previously, families could choose a 10-day Transitional Training Program and add extra training time through TTP+. We have now combined those options into a single 18- to 19-day program called TTP+.
The additional time matters. There is significantly more our trainers can introduce, practice, and reinforce in nearly three weeks than in 10 days. Puppies have more opportunities to work through new skills, experience different environments, and begin building consistency.
We have also adjusted the schedule so the program concludes on a weekday. This allows your puppy’s primary trainer to be present when you arrive. During this personal handoff, you can review what your puppy has learned, see the training in practice, and ask questions directly of the person who has worked most closely with your puppy.
That conversation is an important bridge between our home and yours.
Training the Puppy—and the People
Throughout TTP+, families receive daily video updates. These videos allow you to follow your puppy’s progress, but their purpose goes beyond providing a glimpse into the day.
They are also training you.
As your puppy learns, you will begin learning the language, routines, cues, and expectations being used in the program. This is especially valuable for households with children or multiple adults who will participate in the puppy’s care. When everyone understands the same approach, the puppy receives clearer and more consistent guidance.
Your education is every bit as important as your puppy’s education. Our trainers can establish the foundation, but your family will carry it forward.
A New TTP+ Handbook for Every Family
Education has always been central to our work. Jess loves helping families understand the Bernedoodle breed, the adoption process, puppy development, and the practical steps that lead to a rewarding dog-ownership experience.
To support the expanded program, we have created a brand-new TTP+ Handbook. It complements our longstanding Adoption Handbook and serves as a practical guide to your puppy’s training experience.
The handbook begins with a synopsis of the full curriculum and an overview of the program schedule. It also includes daily training lessons, activities families can practice together, and answers to frequently asked questions.

Growing With Our Puppies and Families
It has been rewarding to watch this program evolve from the initial development of TTP into everything TTP+ has become today.
Our families have repeatedly told us how valuable the training experience has been. We have loved the additional time with the puppies, the insight we have gained from working with them longer, and the thoughtful feedback families have shared after bringing them home.
As the program has grown, so has our team. We now have designated trainers who work closely with our dogs and puppies throughout the day. Their experience allows us to provide more focused instruction, observe each puppy as an individual, and continually improve the program.
We are always learning. We continue to evaluate our curriculum, streamline our operations, and look for ways to create a better experience for both puppies and their people.
